Gossamer Dreams (Haiku)

Of gossamer dreams
I have made you my dear child
-I looked up and smiled.

Demanding justice
Till their fists began to bleed
-Man and maker plead.

Death alone was real
Life, mere musings of the mind
-Around mortals twined.

Pygmy patisches
Left the artist most worried
-Perhaps God agreed.

About the post: There is an obvious theme to the set of haikus. They touch upon the the relationship between mankind and its maker. Putting aside all the religious origins and beliefs of mankind, I wonder how different we are from our ancestors, were they perfect in the eyes of God? Are we for better or worse? Do we really know what's real and what's not? Don't mind my questions, I am a really curious person and think about our version of reality, our understanding of things around us quite often.
I was actually reading a book where I came across some beautiful words- "gossamer" (means "delicate material or substance") and "pastiches" (means "an artistic work in a style that imitates that of another work, artist or period") . I really wanted to use them in my writing and hence this post. :) Hope you enjoyed it.

Haiku - Food for thought

A stain that shan't fade
Their blood, that never shall dry
Can art ever die?

The hut is silent
The scent of gunpowder is strong
They throng at the morgue.

They eye him ominously
He fights the names and their games
Burning in the raging flames.

They fight, they argue
Quick to blame, to point fingers
For fear still lingers.

Her lips, they quivered
Outstretched hands as she shivered
Despair delivered.

A cold winter night
Cold pavement, they huddle tight
Man and dog in plight.

Dull and dreary day
-Hot tea steals me away
From thoughts of dismay.

About the post: This post is reminiscent of my thoughts around the recent events of the day and the season.  Would've loved to start the year with a cheerful blog post but I'm not exactly feeling any cheer right now. Tough times for humanity across the world, we need to stay strong.

Monsoon & Autumn Haiku

Awake or dreaming  ,
The summery night burned her-
Gone was he.

Eyes met and they waved-
The rain thrashed,
Yet they stayed.

I run as the sky turns gray,
A croak and a squeal,
We both jump away .

The squirrel and its brother
Race each other .
Autumn wins as leaves wither .

The trees grow tan
As they race-
Squirrels raid my garden terrace.
Her tail wags
As she greets the boy
And steals his wet sock, her pet ploy.

It rains and turns dark-
Flash and a crack,
It leaves its mark .

About the post: My first attempts at Haiku. This was for a competition which I didn't win but atleast I learnt a tad bit about Haiku. Must keep practising :)
